The police and Fire Service are investigating the causes of a blaze that completely destroyed a furniture factory in Kokkinotrimithia’s industrial area in the early hours Wednesday.
A dog on the premises also died before the fire-fighters could reach it and the flames destroyed a car and equipment within the fenced outdoor area of the factory.
The blaze was brought under control at around 5am, some two hours after breaking out with fire-fighters also preventing it from spreading to the factory next door.
Separately, investigations are also underway into the cause of a fire which destroyed five cars parked outside a mechanic’s garage in Lakatamia, Nicosia, late on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday morning, the Fire Service also helped free a man from the wreckage of his car after it crashed into an electricity pole at the Deftera, Nicosia crossing. The 20-year-old has been taken to Nicosia General Hospital.
