Fire Services officials say a blaze at house in the Larnaca village of Livadia on Monday was started by a toddler who had playing with solid fuel tablets (firelighters).
According to reports, the three-year-old boy had managed to get hold of the firelighters and lit them before dropping them on the couch in one of the rooms. The fire quickly spread and the smoke engulfed the room.
The boy had managed to escape unharmed before the fire could spread.
Two fire engines were called to the house at 4.55pm and the blaze was extinguished shortly afterwards.
