The Fire Service was on Thursday night brought a large fire east of the Limassol district village of Alassa under control after an hours-long battle.
According to a Service representative, the blaze appears to have been set by arsonists and is the second fire to have broken out in the area within the past few days. It had been brought under control by around 8.45pm.
The Service said the blaze was raging on two fronts around 700m from each other and in an area that was particularly difficult to reach.
Four fire trucks and two helicopters engaged by the state were battling the flames.
